The Master Cleanse Diet has been endorsed by celebrities and health gurus all over the world. It's purported to help people detoxify their bodies, alleviate or prevent chronic ill-health, and even trigger weight loss. The Diet itself relies on a handful of simple, everyday ingredients that a lot of people already have in their kitchens. When combined following the Master Cleanse recipe, they become a potent force for detoxification and good health.

 

Following the Master Cleanse itself is not difficult, but it takes dedication. Absolutely no solid food is eaten during the cleanse itself. Most followers recommend performing the Master Cleanse for a period of at least ten days, but not everyone can or should jump right into a long, ten day cleanse, especially if they haven't ever detoxed before. Herbal laxatives are okay to use while doing the Master Cleanse, but some followers prefer to perform a Salt Water flush by mixing two teaspoons of sea salt (not table salt) into a liter of water, and drinking the entire liter in a short period of time. Without laxatives or a Salt Water flush,  solid waste would sit in the colon for a prolonged period of time, continually releasing toxins into the bloodstream and defeating the purpose of the cleanse.

 

The Master Cleanse recipe is created with ingredients specifically chosen for their ability to detoxify tissues, boost circulation, and suppress feelings of hunger. Lemons are known for providing plenty of vitamin C, a crucial antioxidant, but they also help the body in other ways. One of the biggest health benefits of lemon juice is its action on the liver, by helping it to eliminate toxins more effectively. Lemon juice also helps bring the body's pH back into balance. Even though lemon juice itself is acidic, the process of breaking it down causes it to have an alkalinizing effect on the body itself.
